I am a VERY firm believer that:
“Most of our obstacles would melt away IF: instead of cowering before our obstacles and/or adversities, we would make up our minds to walk boldly through them. So, as Bill and I walk through one more season of an obstacle unforeseen, a 5 ½ hour shoulder surgery to repair torn ligaments, took part of the collar bone and shoulder blade off, repair a torn biceps tendon (3 times the size of an ‘average’ person, (per the Dr: 3” of all muscle, no fat, that challenged the doctors immensely!) He will be in rehab/OT/PT off work for several months. We have set our resolve to walk boldly through it. Will it be easy? No….Bill doesn’t do “nothing” nor “pain” (that he admits to) very well. When the doctor asked him “have you ever hurt this shoulder?” He said, “Sure!” The next question was, “Did you see a doctor or did you lose any work from it?” Bill’s reply was, “Heck no! I was raised that ‘No Pain, No Gain’! Plus, being raised on a farm, being a life-long athlete and construction worker, where others depend on you, one learns to work through pain. The reason I had to stop to seek medical intervention was my inability to use my arm. My boss and I heard a ‘noise’ and I felt a ‘twang’ when moving a cabinet. It was the proverbial ‘straw that broke the camel’s back’, and showed its hand. I had no choice!”
