are you a "transformer"?

This last weekend, my husband and I had a “flashback” epic movie night. The movie? Believe it or not, it was Spaceballs! We laughed in silly ways, like when the spaceship became a ‘transformer’ that quickly flashed us back to our own kid’s Transformers that they (we?!) played with when they were little (they are now in their thirties!)
Yesterday, when taking a “time-out” to enjoy the Alaska “summer solstice week” sun, my mind wandered to the movie – especially the spaceship ‘transformer scene”.
As I was mind-wandering, I found myself watching a bald eagle, hundreds of feet above me, soaring higher and higher on warm thermals. Suddenly clouds began to form. At first, fluffy clouds came in. Then, those fluffy clouds turned to stacking, billowing clouds. The eagle became a dot as it soared and the clouds formed.
In a blink of an eye, the white clouds swiftly turned light gray and just as suddenly, turned into angry dark clouds that soon spewed bolts of literally blinding lightning. That was followed by the roar of thunderous claps of thunder, and pelting rain that turned into a down-pour, sending the dog cowering inside on ‘his’ couch. We had to talk in decibels loud enough to cause hearing loss! Talk about a ‘transformation”!
The weather transformation led me to think: “What would it take to be a “transformer” or make ‘transformation’ happen. The following is what I came up with:
  1. Remember that the ‘forecasting”/planning for becoming a transformer can be unpredictable! (Thunder showers were NOT in the forecast!)
  2. Transformation comes in stages (remember the clear skies to clouds?)
  3. Transformation means change – it’s up to YOU to decide what kind of change you end up with.
  4. Transformation/being or becoming a transformer takes many shapes – some days you soar, other days may seem chaotic – but they all have their purpose and timing.
  5. Transformation can take the ‘dry days’ and make them fruitful by using the “pounding rain” times to soak us through and through, letting new ideas sprout and projects already ‘rooted’ to grow deeper and stronger, standing firm and bearing new fruit of your labor.
  6. Being a transformer is like the spaceship. Its goal is to simply get the cargo and make it to port – through rough or calm times, high winds or pelting rain. How fast or slow is up to you, Captain!
I hear thunder starting to rumble in the background. Is that YOU becoming a “Transformer”?
